Nature walks in Lake Mburo- What to see and do

Lake Mburo is sited on Savannah type a bit undulating land of 260 km and a number of swamps that support bird life. Lake Mburo has almost 68 species of mammals, almost 313 different species of birds, including Uganda’s national emblem, the crested crane lying in the one part of Uganda covered in ample extensive acacia woodland savanna 158 square miles, Mburo has marked various fauna to other reserves during your nature walks in Lake Mburo

Lake Mburo is 3 hours 30 minutes from Kampala the capital city, found between Mbarata and Masaka in the south west of Uganda. The park lies between 1219 meters and 1828 meters above the seal level. You can explore the area through mountain climbing in Mgahinga gorilla

There is a legend told about two brothers, Mburo and Kigarama that lived in a large valley. Kigarama dreamt the two were in jeopardy, the next morning, he told his younger brother Mburo about his dream and told Mburo they should move. Mburo rejected this advice, Kigarama prudently moved up into the hills. Now the lake is named after him, and the hills are known as Kigarama after his brother.
